Essential Travel Grooming Tips

Whether you’re embarking on a long road trip, or you’re flying to a new location, travelling can be testing on both your skin and hair. From the general stress that you experience making sure everything’s running smoothly, to the lack of sleep and dry atmosphere on the plane, there are so many different elements that are going to affect how your skin and hair feels. We’ve gathered our top grooming travel tips to help you prepare and stay fresh throughout your travels.

Pre-Flight Hair Prep

One thing to remember is that flying can cause your hair to dehydrate, which in turn can cause your hair to become dry and brittle. With this in mind, it’s always beneficial to give your hair a good wash the night before you fly. This will help to prepare your hair for the cabin conditions and make it much easier to work with when you land.

Once you’ve got clean, fresh hair you should style it with a light amount of pomade, something that’s going to style your hair properly without applying too much heavy product. You don’t need to have a strong hold for the flight, but you want something that’s going to give your hair a little character and boost to see you through the flight.

Moisturise

Applying a generous amount of moisturiser to your face and neck will really help to keep your skin feeling fresh and hydrated. There’s nothing worse than getting off a plane and having dry skin due to the cabin pressure, so this will help to prevent that whilst ensuring your skin looks great too.

Only Pack the Essentials

When you’re on the move, you don’t want to have really heavy bags packed full of random items that you ‘might’ need but know you’ll never actually use. Gather all of your essential travel items and pack them into a small bag. It’s important to have the essentials, like your moisturiser, wash products, hair styling products and so on, but try to keep things light and minimal so you don’t put your back out whilst going from one place to the next.

Get Plenty of Sleep

Believe it or not, the amount of sleep you get has an impact on the way your skin and hair looks. It’s important to get plenty of sleep before you set off on your travels, because you’re guaranteed to be on the go for a while. Try to get a decent night sleep the night before you travel to prepare yourself properly, giving your skin and hair a chance to revive. Remember to pack your headphones (or earplugs) so if you get the chance to sleep during travelling you can do without being distracted by all the noise surrounding you.
